Ferghettina Franciacorta Brut NV

Get to know: Ferghettina Franciacorta Brut NV

A classic example of Italian sparkling wine from the prestigious Franciacorta DOCG in Lombardia.

Tasting Note

Ferghettina Franciacorta Brut NV is an exuberant and confident style of fizz that’s at once bright, soft, and approachable. Pale straw in colour with lively bubbles, it opens with delicate aromas of white flowers, golden apple, citrus zest, and a touch of hazelnut. On the palate, the blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero brings both freshness and gentle richness, creating a rounded mouthfeel. It finishes with a persistent, creamy mousse and a fine balance of fruit and nutty complexity. This traditional method Franciacorta sparkling wine is proof there’s far more to Italian fizz than Prosecco.

Top food pairings:

  • Fresh shellfish or grilled prawns
  • Cold meats such as prosciutto or salami
  • Soft cheeses like burrata or young brie
Kate Says

"This feels like the kind of sparkling you want to celebrate with but could just as easily open on a Friday night. It’s classy yet easy-going, with all the elegance of Champagne but with a distinctly Italian charm."

Producer Info

Ferghettina is one of the leading family-run wineries in Franciacorta, founded in 1991 by Roberto Gatti and now run with his wife Andreina and their children Laura and Matteo. Based in Adro, just south of Lake Iseo, they farm around 200 hectares of vines across 11 villages, mostly planted with Chardonnay along with Pinot Nero. Each vineyard site brings a unique nuance to the wines, which Roberto carefully blends to achieve finesse and balance. Their commitment to organic farming and innovative winemaking has cemented their reputation as one of the finest producers in the region.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: Chardonnay (85%) and Pinot Nero (15%)
  • Harvested from vineyards across six localities in the DOC, ensuring complexity and balance
  • Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures with selected yeasts
  • Tirage in spring of the following year, then aged for 30 months on the lees
  • Finished with a dosage of 7 g/l at disgorgement for a balanced Brut style
