Domaine Gayda, Sphere Syrah 2023

Get to know: Gayda Sphere Syrah 2024

A bold and elegant French red wine from the diverse terroirs of the Languedoc in Southern France.

Tasting Note

Gayda Sphere Syrah 2024 is a structured, full-bodied red that balances ripe fruit richness with vibrant freshness. Deep cherry in colour with violet highlights, it offers a fresh and complex nose of blackberry, blackcurrant, violets, and a hint of pink peppercorn. On the palate, the Syrah is silky with velvety tannins and flavours of dark berries, subtle black pepper, and a touch of roasted cocoa. It finishes long and elegant, with a persistent, smooth texture that showcases the precision and care in its Languedoc winemaking.

Top food pairings:

  • Roast lamb with Mediterranean herbs
  • Roasted aubergine moussaka
  • Grilled red meats or hearty vegetable stews
Kate Says

Producer Info

Domaine Gayda, based in Brugairolles near Carcassonne, combines centuries of tradition with modern winemaking innovation. Under the guidance of Tim Ford, Anthony Record, and talented winemaker Vincent Chansault, the estate focuses on integrity, precision, and showcasing the unique character of Languedoc terroirs. The vineyards’ limestone and schist soils, along with careful vineyard management, produce Syrah grapes that deliver both elegance and intensity.

  • Fermentation: 50% at 26–28°C, 50% at 22–24°C, followed by a week of post-fermentation maceration
  • Ageing: 10% in 3-year-old oak barrels for 9 months, 90% in vats on fine lees for 9 months before blending and bottling
