Domaine Gayda, Le Chemin de Moscou 2022

Get to know: Domaine Gayda Le Chemin de Moscou

Tasting Note

This is a big, bold, beautifully made French red wine that manages to feel both luxurious and totally unpretentious. The Domaine Gayda Chemin de Moscou 2022 is packed with juicy blackberries, blackcurrants, cracked black pepper, liquorice, and a lovely floral lift from violet. It’s full-bodied with velvety tannins, warming spice, and a smooth finish that goes on and on.

If you're after the best Syrah blend from Languedoc, this is up there – a proper treat of a bottle.

Perfect with:

  • Slow-cooked lamb shoulder or beef short rib

  • Mushroom and lentil shepherd’s pie

  • Strong cheeses like Comté, Roquefort, or mature cheddar

Kate Says

"Plush and powerful without being showy, Chemin de Moscou delivers loads of character and that signature Languedoc warmth, but it’s still super polished. It’s one of those wines that feels like a proper moment when you open it. Bang-on if you're after an organic red wine that really satisfies.”

Producer Info

Domaine Gayda is a forward-thinking winery in the heart of the Languedoc, near the foothills of the Pyrenees. It was started by two mates, Tim Ford and Anthony Record, along with their talented winemaker Vincent Chansault. Since 2003, they’ve made it their mission to show the world what this corner of France can do – and Chemin de Moscou is among their standout wines.

Named after the old road leading to the winery – and a local tree that guided early aviators – Chemin de Moscou has become a modern Languedoc classic. It’s a Syrah-dominant blend, with some Grenache and Cinsault for extra depth and perfume.

Here’s what makes it special:

  • Certified organic and picked by hand

  • A third of the Syrah is fermented with whole bunches, giving it extra grip and spice

  • The rest is gently de-stemmed and fermented the traditional way

  • Aged for 21 months in French oak – including a stint in Burgundy barrels

All this effort means the finished wine is bold but beautifully balanced, with loads of flavour and finesse. It’s a brilliant example of sustainable winemaking in Languedoc, and yes – it’s vegan friendly, too.
