Cortese Nostru Orange 2023

Get to know: Cortese Nostru Orange Wine

Tasting Note

This Sicilian orange wine brings together organically grown Inzolia and Zibibbo grapes to create a delicious, fruity and fresh drop. The wine gets its orange colour from contact with the grape skins. Aromas of orange peel, dried apricot, wild herbs, and a hint of spice. The palate is zesty and dry, with tangy citrus, stone fruit, and gentle tannins adding texture. Refreshing acidity carries through to a clean, slightly savoury finish.

Great as an aperitif and versatile with fish dishes with aromatic spices and garlicky pasta.

Kate Says

“Zesty, textured, and just a bit wild – citrus peel, apricot, and gentle grip. A friendly intro to orange wine, perfect with mezze, spice, or a good sunset.”

Producer Info

Cortese, produce wine in the most traditional and natural way to reflect the true character of the estate’s terroir and its grape varieties. Taking tradition as their inspiration, they started to employ ancient wine-making techniques such as fermentation in terracotta. The resulting wines reflect the combination of modern technology and traditional techniques, with every nuance of the terroir showing through.

The wines are fermented on the skins at a controlled temperature of between 17 and 19 °C. The Inzolia is macerated for 2-3 weeks, Zibibbo for 6 weeks with daily, gentle punching down during the 7-10 days of fermentation. Once the fermentation if finished the wines are then blended together and left on fine lees for about 3 months before bottling.
