Vinha do Pardais Tinto 2021

Get to know: Vinha do Pardais Tinto

Tasting Note

This wine is from a small vineyard in known for attracting flocks of sparrows that are known for eating the sweetest grapes in the region. A blend of three local varieties, this is full-bodied and complex with forest fruits, a little pepper spice and a fruity balsamic note. Soft and well-structured on the palate it has good balance and a long finish. This is an easy drinking wine with a bit more about it.

Try this with a grilled pork sandwich.

Kate Says

"We love Portuguese wine and this a great example of the delicious and characterful wine you can find there. Made by a family run winery, it has lovely ripe fruit and is very moreish. I’d have this with grilled pork ribs."

Producer Info

Quinta do Piloto in the Palmela region is run by Filipe Cardoso from the 4th generation of the Cardoso family. Tasting the essence of Palmela’s wine at its best is their aim, based on excellent terroirs, where they tend to  old vineyards of traditional varieties, as Castelão and Moscatel. Vinified by ancestral methods, the wines from Quinta do Piloto are elegant, complex and charismatic; its character is a result of careful selection of only the best grapes in small quantities. This wine uses Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional and Castelao grãpes which are foot-trodden and fermented in a traditional lagar - the shallow trough used in the production of Port.
