Luis Pato Vinhas Velhas Branco 1990

Get to know: Luis Pato Vinhas Velhas Branco 1990

Tasting Note

Beautiful yellow hay colour with a nose that displays notes of maturity and slight oxidation. The maturity is wonderfully balanced by an impressive freshness of citrus, stone fruit and hints of orange and hazelnut. The palate is surprisingly fresh and lively with plenty of acidity and fleshy stone fruits. A lovely chalky minerality comes through on the finish with a well-rounded mouthfeel.

A textural and complex wine that can handle some difficult flavours such as artichoke so give it a try with an onion an artichoke tart.

Producer Info

Luis Pato is one of Portugal’s most iconic winemakers and he has been one of the pioneers of the Bairrada region. He has been making wine for 40 years and his youthful energy, experimental nature and quest for quality have remained a constant. This is an exciting release for two reasons. Not only is it an amazing opportunity to showcase a wine that is over 30 years old (and still going strong!), but 1990 was the year that our supplier of these wines, Raymond Reynolds Ltd, was founded. The opportunity to bring this fabulous wine to the our custiomers was not something that we could turn down. Wonderful things are born of inspiration!
