Tasting Note

A bold and fruit-forward organic Shiraz from South Australia, this wine is bursting with ripe dark berries, black plums, and a hint of liquorice. There’s a lovely balance between the sweet fruit, warming spice, and smooth tannins, with a touch of vanilla and oak adding depth. The finish is velvety yet fresh, making it dangerously drinkable.

Try this with a barbecued steak, slow-cooked beef brisket, or a rich lamb stew. Also great with smoky roasted aubergine, spiced lentil dishes, or a mushroom and black bean burger. Works a treat with aged Cheddar, Gouda, or a punchy blue cheese.

Highgate’s Organic Shiraz is made by Mark Thwaites & Stuart Leece from ACO-certified organic grapes, grown in South Australia’s rich red soils. The 2021 vintage was a warm and dry one, allowing for even ripening and concentrated fruit flavours. To keep things natural and let the fruit shine, the wine is aged for nine months in older American oak barrels, giving it subtle vanilla and spice without overpowering the fruit.

While Highgate is a multi-regional Australian brand made for Single Vineyard Sellers, the wines focus is clear – organic viticulture, minimal intervention winemaking, and producing wines that are both vibrant and true to their region.
