Fattoria di Vaira, Vincenzo Blanco 2023

Get to know: Fattoria di Vaira, Vincenzo Blanco 2023, Molise, Italy

A naturally made orange wine from the heart of Molise – vibrant, textured and full of rustic charm. The kind of bottle that brings energy to the table and tells a story in every glass.

Tasting Note

Vincenzo Blanco is a great introduction to orange wines, this blend of Fiano and Falanghina grapes is full of vibrant peaches and apricots with apple, quince and crunchy yellow plums. Time spent on skins offers just enough tannin to keep things interesting - not dissimilar to iced tea - backed up by plenty of clean, refreshing minerality on the finish.

If you're into natural wine, this is the kind of bottle that’ll win you over – complex, expressive and far too easy to drink.

Top food pairings:

  • Chickpea tagine with preserved lemon and spices (vegan)
  • Roast chicken with fennel and orange
  • Cheese: aged pecorino or a salty hard goat’s cheese
Kate says

“Fresh and feisty – lemon peel, green apple, and a hint of wild herbs. A natural orange wine with real energy. Brilliant with veggie dishes or a sunny lunch outside.”

Producer Info

Fattoria di Vaira is one of the largest biodynamic farms in southern Italy, based in the quiet, under-the-radar region of Molise. More than just a winery, it's a working farm growing vines, grains, vegetables and raising animals – all with a strong focus on sustainability and respect for nature.

Vincenzo Blanco is their orange wine, made naturally from white grapes grown on clay-limestone soils. It's fermented with native yeasts and left to rest on its skins for a few days, giving the wine its amber colour and distinctive texture. Unfiltered, unfined, and bottled with minimal sulphur, it’s a pure expression of place and process.

How it’s made:

  • White grapes grown organically and biodynamically in Molise
  • Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts
  • Skin contact during fermentation (short maceration)
  • Unfined, unfiltered, minimal sulphur
  • Bottled as a natural orange wine

Good to know:

  • Region: Molise, Italy
  • Grape: Blend of local white varieties
  • Vintage: 2023
  • ABV: 12%
  • Vegan: Yes
  • Style: Orange wine / Skin-contact white

Why we love it:

Rustic, real and seriously refreshing – Vincenzo Blanco is a great introduction to orange wine, made by the brilliant team at Fattoria di Vaira. It’s the kind of bottle that sparks conversation and makes food sing.
