While walk-ins can peruse the shop shelves during an event, guests enjoy the back area's high tables to themselves where they are guided through tastings. Our shop manager and expert James hosts tastings with a range of themes from fine wine to whisky, collaborative events like our popular Wine & Cheese nights with Chorlton Cheesemongers, and unique event series including personal styling workshops with colour expert Maria Vittoria. Every year at West Didsbury we throw our Winter Wine Fair, where you can find the perfect wines to enjoy and gift at Christmas.

Tastings at Mackie Mayor are always a buzzing affair, held in the stunning historic Smithfield market either upstairs in a private reserved space or downstairs at the tables closest to our bar.

Conor and his expert team curate themed wine events based on regions, grapes, and styles, offering tips and insights on all things wine. We've also hosted creative and crafts nights such as the popular Sip and Paint classes, where you can relax with a glass of wine while tapping into your artistic side. Tasting evenings are currently paused at Mackie Mayor, however the team have plenty to try at the bar, just ask for a taste!

Our Altrincham wine shop and bar is located inside Market House, a six-minute walk from Altrincham tram and train station.
