A perfect introduction to Orange wine, great fruit with ripe peach and apricot and then some grip from the time spent with skins. It has a lovely minerality from the Calcareous soils it's named after.
A woman in the man’s world of Puglia, farming biodynamically and creating bright, spunky, low alcohol wines. Valentina manages 80 hectares of her own and her wines her prized for their quality, connection to the local environment and value. With her friend Danilo Marcucci (pioneer of natural wines in Italy), she founded Calcarius. Wines in the same state of mind, selected from plots highlighting the minerality of the terroir.
Grapes are manually harvested and fermented in stainless steel vats. Fermentation is done with indigenous yeasts and wines are not fined or filtered. Bottled with minimal sulphur (less than 30mg/l)
