Ayinger Kellerbier 50cl

Get to know: Ayinger Kellerbier 50cl

Tasting Note

Ayinger’s Kellerbier is a proper Bavarian treat – unfiltered, unfussy, and full of character. It pours a hazy golden amber with a frothy head and smells like fresh bread crust, wildflowers, and a hint of orchard fruit. On the palate, it's smooth and malty with a gentle sweetness, balanced by a subtle herbal bitterness from the hops. There's a lovely natural softness thanks to the yeast still being in the bottle – it’s like drinking beer straight from the cask.

Enjoy this with a veggie sausage and mustard sarnie, roast pork with crackling or a buttery chicken schnitzel.

Kate Says

"This is what I’d call a ‘sit down and take your time’ beer. There’s so much going on, but it’s never showy – just beautifully made and proper tasty. It’s got that comforting malty depth you want in a Kellerbier, but with a freshness that makes it far too easy to go back for another sip."

Producer Info

Ayinger are one of Bavaria’s most respected family-run breweries, based in the village of Aying just outside Munich. Brewing since 1878, they’ve stuck to traditional methods while quietly racking up international awards for quality. Their focus is on slow, careful brewing with proper attention to ingredients and technique – and it shows in every glass.

Their Kellerbier (which means “cellar beer”) is a nod to old-school brewing, when beers were stored in cool cellars and served unfiltered and naturally cloudy. Ayinger keeps it true to style: they use locally grown barley and hops, ferment it slowly, and leave it unfiltered so all those flavours stay in. The result is a naturally carbonated, full-flavoured beer with bags of rustic charm – fresh, honest and deeply satisfying.
