Calusari Rose 2024

Get to know: Calusari Pinot Rosé

Tasting Note

This vibrant Pinot Noir rosé from Romania is delicate in colour but bursting with character. Expect fresh aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant, with subtle floral hints and a whisper of spice. On the palate, it’s clean and crisp – think cranberry, ripe berries, and a touch of pepper – all balanced by bright acidity and a dry finish that keeps you coming back for more.

If you’re looking for a light, crisp vegan rosé wine with genuine charm, this one delivers – refreshing, easy-going, and incredibly drinkable. It’s a brilliant bottle for warm-weather sipping, BBQs or just something chilled on a weekday evening.

Try it with:

  • Grilled halloumi or vegetable skewers
  • Summer salads with fresh berries or citrus dressing
  • Cold roast chicken or charcuterie platters
  • As an aperitif – serve well chilled

"You'll be glad you tried this lovely Romanian rosé. From the ever-reliable Calusari, this is light and refreshing. Lovely bright fruit. This would be great for a picnic or served up with some seafood."

Producer Info

The Calusari Pinot Rosé comes from the team at Cramele Recaș, a forward-thinking Romanian winery led by Englishman Philip Cox and his wife Elvira. They’ve spent the last two decades modernising the estate – replanting vineyards, building a high-tech winery, and producing standout wines that massively over-deliver for the price.

Made using 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown on rolling hills with clay and limestone soils. Grapes are harvested early to preserve freshness, gently pressed, and fermented in stainless steel to capture the fruit’s purity. The result is a fresh, dry, fruit-forward vegan rosé wine that’s clean, vibrant, and great with food – or on its own.

While not certified organic, the winery uses sustainable practices and avoids animal products, making this a brilliant option for those looking for a vegan-friendly rosé.
