Get to know: Domaine Emma & Christian Sorine Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2024

A structured and elegant Burgundy red wine from the prestigious vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte de Beaune.

Tasting Note

Domaine Emma & Christian Sorine Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2024 is an elegant red that offers a combination of refinement and vibrancy. Ruby in colour with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, subtle spice, and a whisper of earthy forest floor. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied yet precise, with silky Pinot Noir tannins, layered red berry flavours, and a mineral lift that reflects the Chassagne terroir. The finish is long, supple, and refined, making this a Burgundy red of great finesse and charm.

Top food pairings:

  • Roast duck with honey and thyme
  • Coq au vin or beef bourguignon
  • Soft washed-rind cheeses like Époisses or Munster
Kate Says

"This Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge is pure elegance in a glass – it is softer than Sorine's Santenay 1er Cru, playing more to its refined attributes. Approachable, yet full of character. Lovely whenever you want a wine to show off a bit."

Producer Info

Domaine Emma & Christian Sorine is one of Burgundy’s oldest winemaking families, with roots in Santenay dating back to Gallo-Roman times. Christian took over in 1990, Emma joined in 2009, and their son Paul now brings a fresh perspective from his travels abroad. They combine traditional Burgundy methods with careful vineyard management, sustainable practices, and a commitment to letting the terroir shine through every bottle.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir

  • Long extractive maceration for 18–21 days to build structure and depth
  • Traditional fermentation followed by 12–15 months ageing in 20–30% new oak barrels
  • Light filtration before bottling to preserve purity and elegance
