A polished, pedigree claret from a top vintage and a fourth growth with first-rate finesse.
The 2016 vintage of Château Talbot is a classic Saint-Julien – poised, elegant, and deeply satisfying. Aromas of cassis, blackberry and cedar leap out of the glass, with hints of cigar box and violets. On the palate, it’s all about balance: ripe dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a long, cool finish with just the right amount of oak spice and minerality.

Serving suggestion: Decant for an hour and serve just below room temperature to let those classic claret notes shine.
“This is everything you want from a grown-up Bordeaux: refined, not showy; serious, but still utterly enjoyable. It’s got that unmistakable Talbot charm – silky, savoury, and built to last – and the 2016 vintage is drinking beautifully now or will happily age for another decade.”
Château Talbot is one of the most recognisable names in Saint-Julien, a fourth growth in the 1855 Classification but often punching well above its rank. With over a century in the hands of the Cordier family, it’s a benchmark estate for traditional claret done right.
The 2016 vintage was near-perfect in Bordeaux – a warm, dry summer followed by cool nights and just enough rain at the right time. Talbot’s deep gravel soils and proximity to the Gironde estuary gave the vines ideal ripening conditions.
