Man Meets Mountain, Malbec 2024

Get to know: Man Meets Mountain Malbec

A characterful Argentinian red wine from the high-altitude vineyards of Mendoza.

Tasting Note

Man Meets Mountain Malbec is a vibrant, fruit-forward red that sourced from the unique terroir of the Andes foothills. Deep ruby in colour, it bursts with aromas of ripe blackberry, plum, dark cherry, and a hint of violet. On the palate, this is medium to full-bodied with layers of juicy black fruit, subtle black pepper spice, and just a touch of smoky oak. Smooth, rounded tannins give it structure without heaviness, while the finish is long, warming, and satisfyingly complex. A textbook example of why Mendoza is considered the home of world-class Malbec.

Top food pairings:

  • Chargrilled steak with chimichurri
  • Barbecued ribs or spicy sausages
  • Hearty vegetable stews or mushroom risotto
Kate Says

"This great value Malbec stands out for its pure fruit character. The vines are planted at the foothills of the Andes and the cooling breeze from the mountains ripens the grapes slowly for maximum flavour."

Producer Info

Man Meets Mountain is a collaborative project born from a passion for Mendoza’s most famous grape, Malbec. The winemakers source fruit from vineyards in Vistalba and Medrano, where the higher altitude, desert climate, and poor soils combine to produce grapes of exceptional intensity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats, with minimal intervention to allow the purity of fruit to shine. The result is an approachable yet authentic Argentinian red wine that reflects the rugged beauty of the Andes foothills.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Malbec
  • Fruit sourced from Vistalba and Medrano vineyards, trained in a vertical system with drop irrigation
  • Fermented in stainless steel tanks and concrete vats at 28ºC
  • Traditional pump overs used for gentle extraction
  • Aged briefly in old French oak for added softness and complexity

  • Region: Mendoza, Argentina
  • Style: Red, still, medium- to full-bodied
