Tasting Note

This brilliant-value natural red wine is the kind of bottle that makes you do a double take on the price. Made with low-intervention methods and organic practices, it’s a standout example of what natural wine can offer. A vibrant cherry-red red wine in the glass, it bursts with aromas of red berries, cassis and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it’s light, juicy and fresh, with bright acidity and plenty of ripe red fruit flavour. The label won’t tell you all that – just a cheeky story about greedy bankers – but inside is a cracking natural red wine that overdelivers every time.

Kate Says

"A wine for the rebels! Love these guys. Brilliant value natural wine, not too funky, lots of great fruit. All about purity and freshness, and their mission is about bringing old vineyards back to life."

Producer Info

Gran Cerdo Tempranillo was born out of frustration - and a bit of cheeky humour. Gonzalo Grijalba created it after a few bank managers refused him a loan to get his wine business off the ground. The flying pig on the label? That’s his way of saying, “Thanks for nothing,” with a wink and a grin.

Instead of chasing trends or cutting corners, Gonzalo went back to basics, using his family’s vineyards to build something true to his values. He steered clear of chemicals and industrial farming, choosing instead to protect the land and honour the way his ancestors made wine. At the same time, he’s not stuck in the past - he blends traditional know-how with smart modern winemaking techniques.

A big reason behind Gonzalo’s approach is personal. His dad fell seriously ill after years of exposure to pesticides and herbicides, and the land itself was suffering too. Since then, Gonzalo has been on a mission to bring life back to the soil. That’s why he works using biodynamic methods - treating the vineyard as a living system and farming with care.
