Get to know: Flint Vineyard, Charmat White
Tasting Note
Flints newest wine is a sprightly English Sparkling white bursting with bright fresh fruit. Made with a blend of sustainably grown, aromatic varieties that require minimal intervention in the vineyard. The aromas is full of fresh lemon and pear. A crisp palate of melon and green apple lead to a bright finish, making it the perfect aperitif. Sassy, summery and fun.
Try this with Nigella's party popcorn.
Kate Says
"This wine is really fun with an appealingly fruity nose, sherbety palate and zingy finish. There's a real skill in making a wine this precise and clean while keeping all the aromatics and flavours that give it life."
Producer Info
Flint were the first English producer to begin to make wine using the Charmat method, which is now becoming widely recognised as a style that is very much suited to England's climate. Initially it was a bit of an experiment for them, but winemaker Ben seems to have stumbled upon a winning recipe, predominantly using four intensely aromatic grape varieties. The grapes were pressed under nitrogen to retain their delicate flavours, with a proportion fermented in neutral oak to add complexity. Secondary fermentation was completed in tank, making it one of the first of its kind produced in England.
No fining agents have been used so the wine is vegan friendly gluten free.
