Atasmique, Serbal Chardonnay 2022

Get to know: Atasmique, Serbal Chardonnay

Tasting Note

This is an excellent unoaked Chardonnay that shows considerable elegance, honest fruit and poise that reveals the French influence in this winery. The nose is inviting with floral notes, bright apple and pineapple fruit that leads to an intense palate with focused fruit and a ripe, round texture giving it a bit of weight. There's a gentle acidity keeping it fresh and crisp on the finish too. Very well-balanced and effortless to drink.

Try this with roast pork or salmon dishes.

Kate Says

"If you like your Chardonnay to be all about the fruit, this is for you. It has ripe flavour of citrus, pineapple and pear, and a soft, almost creamy texture that makes it very easy-drinking. Great quality stuff. I'd enjoy this with an aromatic Salmon dish."

Producer Info

Located in the district of San José in Tupungato, Uco Valley, this stunning yet simple winery is the first you will see on the famous ‘Ruta del Vino’, Route 86. The humble slate roofs and drably coloured walls host an extremely impressive modern facility, where winemaker Philippe Caraguel quietly plies his trade, bringing a touch of French restraint to the fruits of these 100% estate-owned vineyards, many of which boast some particularly old vines.

Their Serbal range is named after indigenous trees and shrubs that can be found growing amongst the vines. Whole bunches of Chardonnay fruit are pressed at a cool temperature and fermented over 22 days in stainless steel tanks. Natural malolactic fermentation follows, also in stainless steel tanks and the wine is kept for 6 months in tank before bottling.
