Pyramid Valley, North Canterbury Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Mike and Claudia Etze spent 15 years searching for the perfect vineyard sites and in the year 2000 they purchased a plot of land in Waikari, where they've now been creating truly remarkable, world rennowned wines for 20 years. In 2017 Steve Smith and Brian Sheth realised their own dream of creating wine together and were honoured to take on the legacy of Pyramid Valley. Their philosophy remains very much holistic, using biodynamics in the vineyards and following natural principles in the winery, using indigenous yeasts, natural fining and minimal filtration. Aiming to produce wines that truly reflect their place in the world.
The Sauvignon is a blend from three sites across Waipara fermented in a mixture of amphora and stainless steel before being aged in a mixture of oak and stainless steel for around 6 months. There's plenty of tropical fruits and a hint of sherbet on the nose. Ripe passion fruit and melon on the palate combine with refreshing acidity and a long, crisp finish.
