Filled with intense dark fruits, cassis, figs this is the same variety as Douce Noir often grown in Piedmonte in northern Italy.
If Pol Andsnes could only make wine in Argentina from one variety it would be Bonarda however it took him five years to find the right vineyard up at 1100m in the Uco valley. Farming using organic methods and allowing other plantlife to grow amongst the vines to keep a more natural environment and improve the quality of the soils.
Try this with tomato based pasta dishes, a lamb ragu would be excellent.
