Get to know: Hans Herzog Chardonnay
Tasting Note
One for the Burgundy lovers. Elegant, pure and refined with depth and silky texture. Layers of flavours unfold, ranging from ripe apple to tropical fruit and just a hint of lemon zest in this immensely concentrated, honeyed wine. A finely balanced acidity keeps this rich wine bursting with energy making sure it will last at least a decade in a proper cellar. There is a lovely minerality in the long and concentrated dry finish. Think Premier Cru Meursault.
Very food friendly and versatile. Try with roasted aubergine with jeweled rice and tahini
Producer Info
Established in 1994 Herzog is an artisan family winery acclaimed for growing handcrafted wines from their exceptional 'Grand Cru' organic vineyard in Marlborough. The grapes spend around 20 days maceration on skins to gently extract colour and tannins before wild fermentation takes place and the wine is gently pressed and transferred to French oak barrels to age on the fine lees for around 18 months.
