En Primeur Burgundy 2021: Domaine Felettig, Bourgogne Aligote Vieilles Vignes 2021

Tasting Note

This wine is an en primeur product and will be shipped later in the year.

If you are looking for Burgundy wine that is available to drink now, Shop our Burgundy Wine Collection.

The fruit for this wine is Aligoté, Burgundy's other white grape variety and here it comes from 60+ and 35 to 40-year-old vines in Chambolle and Vosne.

What is En Primeur?

En Primeur or "Wine Futures" is a method of buying wine while it is still in barrel, before it is bottled. Buying wine early offers the chance to buy at a reduced price and secure wine that is very limited in availability. The wine is bottled and released a year or two after the vintage, and we would recommend aging the wines further before drinking them. As such, this is recommended for customers who are looking to create or add to a wine collection at home and have the right conditions for storing wines at home.

How it works:

  • Select the wines you wish to order.
  • We will confirm your order and take payment.
  • When the wine has been bottled and shipped to the UK we deliver the wine to you.
  • Enjoy the wine based on the drinking window we suggest

Producer Info

If any domaine has made more dramatic progress over the last handful of vintages, we would be very surprised. Henri Felettig, a former vineyard worker, founded this domaine in 1974. His children Gilbert (viticulture and vinification) and Christine (commercial) joined him in 1993 and now run this 12.5-hectare domaine, which comprises some 100 individual parcels! Viticulture is now organic, with no use of herbicides or insecticides, their vines are mostly old (40-50 years), and everything is harvested by hand. Following a rigorous selection, during which the grapes are sorted in both the vineyard and cuverie, they then undergo a 5–7-day cold maceration at 10°C prior to fermentation and a three-week cuvaison. Gilbert is now far gentler in terms of frequency and intensity of pigeage and now prefers limited pumping over, which is borne out by the precision and purity of their wines.

A genuine star domaine, which will only become even better.

This wine is an en primeur product and will be shipped later in the year.
