    100% Chardonnay from the Tokaji region in north eastern Hungary, aged for 6 months in local Zemplen oak barrels before an extended period of bottle ageing. This is complex and rich with ripe apples and pears merging into creamy buttery flavours with toasted almonds and oak spices. It's super smooth and the soft texture leads to a long finish.

    Vines have been planted in this region since 1576 so is steeped in history and alligned with premium wines made for the royals throughout the ages however Chardonnay is not one of the 6 permitted grapes to be labelled Tokajia nd so must be labelled Zempleni Chardonnay instead but don't let this detract from the quality of the wine. 

    This would work brilliantly with a meaty fish such as halibut with brown butter sauce, something with some weight and richness to match the full bodied, bold flavours fo the wine.
