Chateau Le Crock, Saint-Estephe Cru Bourgeois 2016

Cheateau Le Crock in Saint-Estephe si positioned between the second growths of Chateau Montrose and Chateau Cos d'Estournel and has been in the Cuvelier family since 1903. The family also own Cheateau Leoville-Poyferre and Chateau Moulin Riche. The vineayrds are mainly made up of cabernet sauvignon with some merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc, ageing an average of 40 years old. The wine is aged in French oak casks, 30% new, for around 18 months to add depth and richness.

The wine is full of ripe blackberries and plums, combined with tobacco, toasted oak, sweet cinnamon and velvety tannins. The racy acidity balances out all the ripe fruit and silky tannins to leave a long finish. An excellent Saint-Estephe to enjoy now or lay down for up to 10 years.
