Fonseca Quinta do Panascal Vintage 2004

Get to know: Fonseca Quinta do Panascal Vintage 2004

Tasting Note

This rich, velvety single quinta Vintage Port is made entirely from the produce of Quinta do Panascal. It is a pure expression of the estate’s terroir. This is a big, bold, and seriously lush wine. It’s packed with ripe, jammy fruit aromas, and hint of marmalade on hot toast. In the mouth, it’s all about those rich, juicy flavours – think plums and cherries bursting with ripeness. You’ll also catch some lovely smoky notes, like tobacco and lapsang tea, with a bit of spice in there too. It’s warm, velvety, and smooth – a wine with loads of texture that just pulls you in for another sip.

Try this with walnuts, blue and other richly flavoured cheeses and dried fruits such as apricots or figs.

Kate Says

Single Quinta Ports are often made when Port doesn't declare a full vintage, which often means they are softer and more approachable and need less cellaring time. This release from 2004 is already aged to perfection and is wonderful drop. Well-worth indulging in and it makes for a great gift idea.

Producer Info

Founded in 1815, Fonseca is a renowned Port House, particularly famous for its Vintage Ports. It has been a leading producer since the 19th century, known for its rich, fruity, and complex wines. The house is celebrated for its Vintage Ports and its Reserve Bin 27, a classic example of the distinctive Fonseca style cherished by Port enthusiasts worldwide.

The winery owns three key quintas (estates), with Quinta do Panascal being an early pioneer of organic vineyards since 1992.
