Hoopes, Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2016/17

Get to know: Hoopes, Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Note

Sitting dense and visually pretty in the glass, fresh aromas of plum, prune, bay, dried flowers, and aromatic hints of clove and cardamom sit above a muscular core of cedar, leather, and earth. A sweet and supple entry upon first sip depends to a rich, full palate of quality tannins and dense and concentrated fruit. The wine finishes with cocoa and espresso notes, biscuit and dark chocolate.

Try this with beef short ribs or a juicy grilled portabello mushroom (or two) with garlic butter.

Kate Says

This Cabernet is a true icon, offering rich, complex flavours and a perfect balance. Ideal for a special occasion or a classic steak dinner, its deep, bold character makes it a standout choice for any red wine lover. Treat yourself!

Producer Info

Hoopes Vineyard is a small, family-owned winegrower and producer with deep roots in Napa Valley. First vineyard was planted in 1981 and first vintage was in 1984. The first vintage under Hoopes Vineyard was 1999.

The estate is now run by second-generation proprietor, Lindsay Hoopes. Raised on the farm by her wine-loving family, Lindsay learned how to cultivate grapes and promote Napa’s sense of place and terroir through her father, Spencer Hoopes. Spencer Hoopes loved farming, and developed a passion for wine as the wine industry in Napa blossomed right around him.
