Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse Pauillac 2016

Get to know: Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse Pauillac 2016

Tasting Note

A great chance to try a Bordeaux from this region with a little time already under its belt. Pauillac, known for its powerful and age-worthy reds, is home to some of Bordeaux's most prestigious estates.  Aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, and a hint of graphite, the wine offers a full-bodied palate with layers of dark fruit, tobacco, and a touch of leather. This holds its own with a refined structure and deep complexity. It delivers great value considering the age and embodies the classic, robust character of the region.

This wine will benefit from being decanted before serving for 2+ hours.

Try this with beef wellington or a lentil and mushroom shepherds pie.

Kate Says

"Grand-Puy Ducasse’s 2016 vintage is a classic Bordeaux with deep, rich flavors and a velvety finish. It’s perfect for a celebratory meal, and pairs wonderfully with roast beef or a savory lamb dish. A standout choice for anyone looking to impress."

Producer Info

Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is a renowned winery located in the Pauillac appellation of the Bordeaux region in France. It’s classified as one of the eighteen Cinquièmes Crus (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 18th century when Arnaud Ducasse purchased a small house by the Gironde river, which eventually became the location of the château.

The vineyard spans 48 hectares and is one of the oldest in the region, with its origins traced back to 16803. The Château cultivates its vines using organic and biodynamic methods, producing distinguished wines that reflect the authentic expression of the terroir.
