About Us

Reserve is Manchester's finest independent wine merchants, run by people with a passion for the great grape. We have a massive local following due to our commitment to making wine accessible and fun for everyone, stocking a huge range of 'boutique' wines from family owned-and-run wineries across the globe. Don't get tricked into thinking that we're pricey though - there's something on our shelves for everyone, and we pride ourselves on the quality of every bottle we sell, from £4 to £400. We know they're good because we've tasted them all (it's a hard job, but someone has to do it).

We love to get visitors in the shop more than anything else, but seeing as West Didsbury isn't accessible to everyone, we make every bottle we sell available to buy on this very website or over the phone - that way we can spread the word of wine worldwide!

Our Opening Times Are

Monday to Friday: 12-9pm
Saturday: 11-9pm
Sunday: 12-7pm

And you can find us at:

176 Burton Road
West Didsbury
Manchester
M20 1LH

Pop in - the best way to buy wine is face to face (and you never know your luck, we may have a bottle open!)

Wine Heaven: Cote Rotie blends, well balanced oaked Chardonnays and Sexy Pinot Noir
Wine Hell: Bad Cava
WIne Geek Fact: In some champagne houses, they still use a traditional method of turning champagne bottles (riddling). The riddler will turn up to 60,000 bottles a day!
Top Reserve Tip: Come into the shop, or call and talk to us! There's a wealth of knowledge in my staff, begging to be released!

Chris Eastman

Wine Heaven: Old Riesling (Especially German, although I'm fast becoming a Clare Calley convert)
Wine Hell: Rose (any Rose!)
Wine Geek Fact: Cabernet Sauvignon is the lovechild of Cabernet France and Sauvignon Blanc.
Top Reserve Tip: Tasmania is Australia's new hotspot, and Dr Andrew Pirie's wines are the best of the lot

Wine Heaven: A big glass and a bottle of Italian 2001 vintage red!!!
Wine Hell: Cheap Californian blush from supermarkets!
Wine Geek Fact: If you drink too much wine, you will get a hangover. Fact!!!
Top Reserve Tip: Go with Portugal - it's great value and our wines showed amazingly at a tasting we attended earlier this year.
Jack Wild

Wine Heaven: Argentinean Malbec, New and Old World Pinot Noir and good Champagne.
Wine Hell: Really cheap Spanish red that smells like burnt flesh. Shudder… [I would like to point out that these are NOT available at Reserve. Also Jack, the burnt flesh reference is a little worrying..... Kate]
Wine Geek Fact: Max Schubert had to make some vintages of Grange in secret before Penfolds realised what he was on to!
Top Reserve Tip: South America is my reference region for premium quality, medium & full-bodied reds at a great price. Malbec and Carmenere are the future - join the revolution!
