A really thoughtfully made wine, this branco is created with Malvasia Fina, Bical and Sercial. It has a fantastic mouth feel which is quite like Viognier, and on the palate is delicate with light stone fruits, honeyed notes nad good minerality. Biodynamically farmed vineyards, to boot.
From vineyards deep within a World Heritage Site comes this delicious new white from the Coa stable. Barrel fermented and exotic with pineapple and cocnut flavours, toasted almonds and nougat flavours. Delicious.
This wine becomes more refined with every vintage. Roques are the top Dao producer, and this varietal oozes class. Creamy pear and butter flavours, subtle minerality and gentle use of oak.
From these vineyards you could throw a stone into Rias Baixas, so it's hardly surprising that they grow Alvarinho (or Albarino) here. This is altogether leaner, with sizzling acidity, nutty mineral flavours and a touch of spritz. Vinho Verde but not as you know it!
We used to drink loads of Arinto (the wine this grape is made with) over here in the 19th Century, but we hardly ever see it. That's a shame as it's a delightful wine, sharp acidity and Riesling-esque savoury notes on the nose, but dominated by fresh lemon and lime.
