Ten Tips for a Top Wine Fair

Ten Tips for a Top Wine Fair

Click here for previous Grape Gossips

1. Get there early, leave late!

2. Eat before you arrive

3. Try everything you've never heard of

4. Taste small amounts of lots of wines

5. Start with light whites (Albarino, Vermentino etc), then heavy whites (New world Sauvignons then oaky chardonnays, white riojas et al) and champers, roses, light reds (Pinot Noirs, Beaujolais) and finally the big boys (Chateauneuf du Pape, big new world Shiraz). Whisky last!

6. Have a chat with the guys and gals behind the tables - they really know their stuff

7. Don't miss the 'Reserve's New Best Friends' room inside the tennis club building - so many people don't read their booklets and forget it's there!

8. Mark your wines out of ten using the guide in your booklet, then order everything that gets more than 6

9. Try the Marble Beers - they really are fantastic

10. Be nice to Nick - he really doesn't like being an Angel!
