Ahh, Condrieu. One of the most sought-after of all white wines, it has a place close to my heart! The tiny appellation in the Northern Rhone Valley is the home and heartland of Viognier (in fact, until very recently, this was the only place in the world in which the grape was grown) and still produces unrivalled wines made from this perfumed variety. This family-made wine is made from three sites in the appellation by a tenth-generation winemaker with a real feel for the Terroir.

They don't have a website, but if you speak French, you can view a tour of the winery by CLICKING HERE

By the way, for those of you interested in that kind of thing, Robert Parker gave this 96 points in February

Tasting Note
If you're not sure what we're talking about when we refer to 'complexity' in wine, then this is the wine to try. I ran out of paper before I ran out of flavours to record! Perfumed, big and bold, my first note says 'Big flavours - ooh'. Peaches and apricots abound with wild flowers on the nose. In the mouth the wine is rich and a little oily with fleeting glances of stewed fruits and dried apricots, mineral high notes and meaty edges, all rounded off by ginger spice on the finish. The love affair continues...

Cellaring
This wouldn't last long in my cellar!

If you like this why not try...... if you can wait until Christmas, Monteillet's Cote Rotie is absolutely stellar, but in the mean time, why not try Australia's answer to Condrieu: Clonakilla Viognier
