 | Tasted December 2007
Chateau La Lagune is a 3eme Grand Cru Classe from the Haut Medoc, reknowned for its traditional style. In recent years, following a relatively fallow period, the Chateau has once again raised its game, and has modernised production using stainless steel fermentation tanks and an increasing amount of new oak. Mademoiselle L is their third wine, made from young vines for a forward, modern, early-maturing style.

Tasting Note We were slightly suspicious when this was recommended to us as the perfect claret for this Christmas, thinking that 2004 may be a bit young, but the use of young vines and new oak proved us very wrong. The fruit is almost new-world in its concentration of black fruit flavours, but the oak hints of cedar, cigar box and spice are most definitely French in origin!
Cellaring At its peak now, but will remain there for a couple of years.
