Abadia Retuerta are an innovative estate, based in the Sardon del Duero region just 5km downriver from Vega Sicilia. Officially classified as a Vino de la Tierra, this estate delivers better wines than many DOCs, taking full advantage of their prime sites in the Duero valley. Rivola is the earliest maturing of its wines, but still full and tannic in its youth and enjoyed on of its best vintages of recent years in 2004 |

Tasting Note
Rivola takes no prisoners, but does it very smoothly. The palate is rich and heavy with firm tannins which will soften with age. Intense black cherry and cassis flavours dominate the palate with menthol undertones, and liquorice notes on the nose. Powerful vanilla oak and hints of mocha and leather balance the wine and lead to a well defined finish.
Cellaring
Rivola 2004 is at the start of its drinking window, and will keep easily another 5 years.
